A quiet retreat within Jiangsu Garden Expo Park, Radisson Collection Hotel, Nanjing brings the poetry of Jinling into a contemporary resort setting. Surrounded by hills, hot springs and garden views, the hotel blends heritage-inspired design with a calm, refined material language.

A Timeless Garden Setting

Set within the landscape of Jiangsu Garden Expo Park, the hotel is shaped by Nanjing’s layered cultural memory. Forests, flower valleys, white walls, dark roof tiles and stone pathways create a sense of quiet discovery, where the elegance of Jiangnan is reinterpreted for modern hospitality.

A Contemporary Interpretation of Jinling Elegance

The architecture uses soft, flowing lines and sculptural umbrella-like columns to create a strong yet graceful presence. Inside, the design draws inspiration from Nanjing Yunjin brocade, using light, texture and carefully selected materials to express understated luxury.

In the lobby and banquet hall, cardamia® Braun Stone was selected for the wall surfaces. Its natural stone texture, soft depth and refined finish bring a composed, classical atmosphere to the space.

Natural Texture, Made More Adaptable

The original design concept called for natural stone in the banquet hall, using surface relief and lighting to create a rich play of light and shadow. However, the weight and installation complexity of stone made the concept difficult to realise efficiently.

cardamia® flexible stone provided a more practical and design-sensitive solution. It delivers the visual character of stone while remaining lightweight, flexible and easier to install, allowing the designer’s vision to be achieved with greater efficiency.

Material Advantages

Authentic material texture

cardamia® flexible stone recreates the depth and character of natural materials through advanced surface technology. Beyond the Braun Stone used in this project, the material can express stone, timber, bamboo weave, leather and other refined textures for interior and architectural applications.

Efficient and cost-conscious

Compared with natural stone, cardamia® flexible stone is lighter, easier to transport and faster to install. Panels can be stacked or rolled to save space, while installation can reach approximately 20-40 m² per person per day. In suitable applications, it can reduce overall costs by around 30-60% compared with natural stone.

Simple long-term maintenance

Traditional dry-hung stone may loosen over time due to its weight, creating maintenance concerns and higher long-term costs. cardamia® flexible stone is thin, lightweight and applied directly to wall surfaces, helping reduce the risk of detachment. With strong resistance to ageing, corrosion and UV exposure, it offers a durable surface solution with easier maintenance.

Project Summary

In Radisson Collection Hotel, Nanjing, cardamia® flexible stone helped preserve the project’s natural, elegant design language while improving material handling, installation efficiency and long-term practicality. The result is a calm, richly textured space that reflects the spirit of Jinling with contemporary ease.
